About this worksheet
A free printable area and perimeter of l-shapes worksheet with an answer key. Split each shape into two rectangles to find the area. Add all six sides for the perimeter. Answer key at a glance
1) 6 cm 7 cm 9 cm 3 cm 4 cm 3 cm Area = 51 sq cm Perimeter = 32 cm; 2) 7 cm 8 cm 10 cm 6 cm 2 cm 3 cm Area = 74 sq cm Perimeter = 36 cm; 3) 8 cm 9 cm 12 cm 3 cm 6 cm 4 cm Area = 84 sq cm Perimeter = 42 cm; 4) 5 cm 10 cm 9 cm 8 cm 2 cm 4 cm Area = 82 sq cm Perimeter = 38 cm.
Tips for using it
- Line the object up with the 0 on the ruler, not with the end of the ruler.
- Guess first, then measure: kids get better at estimating with every try.
- Perimeter: add all the sides. For a rectangle, double the length plus the width.
- Area: multiply length by width and write 'square' units.
