Tips for multiplication worksheets
- Learn the easy tables first (2, 5, 10), then use them to work out harder facts.
- Remember that facts flip: if you know 3 x 8, you also know 8 x 3.
- For the 9 times table, the digits of the answer always add up to 9 (up to 9 x 10).
Fun math facts
- Any number multiplied by 0 is 0, and any number multiplied by 1 stays the same.
- The x sign for multiplication was introduced by William Oughtred in 1631.
- Once you know the flipped pairs, there are only 78 different facts in the 12 x 12 table, not 144.
Fun ways to use your printables
- Skip-count while jumping rope or bouncing a ball.
- Build arrays with coins, cereal or stickers before doing the array worksheet.
- Hang the multiplication chart near the homework spot for quick checking.
