About this coloring page
A printable color-by-number mystery picture worksheet with a hidden snowman. Solve each subtraction problem (answers up to 10) and color the square by its answer. Kids solve each problem first, then color, which makes it a great math center activity. Red, green and gold make a classic Christmas palette.
This page by the numbers
The picture has 169 numbered squares on a 13 x 13 grid, colored with 5 crayon colors. White (number 8) fills the most squares: 73 of them. Orange (number 9) is used the least, with 2. Every answer is a number from 2 to 9, so each answer matches one color in the key.
- 2 = red: 9 squares
- 3 = black: 23 squares
- 7 = light blue: 62 squares
- 8 = white: 73 squares
- 9 = orange: 2 squares
Coloring ideas
- Add white for snow.
- Keep the snowman white and color the scarf in bright stripes.
- Shade the snowballs with light blue.
- Color one number at a time: find all the 1s, then all the 2s, and so on.
