About this game
A picture puzzle for the eyes: a line drawing of a pumpkin cut into four pieces, scattered around the page and turned upside down. Kids figure out what the whole picture is, write their guess and draw it in one piece. Page 2 shows the drawing put back together. First graders can do it on their own once they know the strategy at the top of the page. Try classic orange pumpkins with green stems, or make one purple just for fun.
Tips for using it
- Orange, purple, black and lime green make a classic Halloween palette.
- Color the sky dark blue for a night scene.
- Give each pumpkin a slightly different shade of orange.
- Look for the biggest piece first; it usually shows the most.
Printing tips
Download the PDF and print at 100% (or “fit to page” on A4). Page 1 is the game and page 2 is the answer key with the answers in red; print just page 1 if you want to keep the answers for checking. The PNG shows page 1 only. Free for personal, family and classroom use.
