About this worksheet
Four rows with three small pictures each: an animal in front of, behind or next to a box, a bush or a fence. Kids read the sentence and circle the matching picture, a great check on in front of and behind. The answer key is on page 2. Big pictures and only a few tasks per page make it a gentle start for kindergartners.
On this sheet
the box, bush or fence? Circle the picture where the penguin is IN FRONT OF the box. Circle the picture where the hen is IN FRONT OF the bush. Circle the picture where the chick is BEHIND the fence. Circle the picture where the bunny is BEHIND the fence.
Tips for using it
- Read the sentence aloud and stress the position word, then let your child point before coloring.
- Use a toy and a box to act out the word first: put the bear in, on, under, behind and next to the box.
- For left and right, keep the paper straight in front of your child and check with the L-shaped left hand.
Printing tips
Download the PDF and print at 100% (or “fit to page” on A4). Page 1 is the worksheet and page 2 is the answer key with the answers in red; print just page 1 if you want to keep the answers for checking. The PNG shows page 1 only. Free for personal, family and classroom use.
