About this worksheet
A free printable faces, edges and vertices of 3d shapes worksheet with an answer key. A face is a flat side, an edge is where two faces meet and a vertex is a corner. Dashed lines are edges hidden in the back. It fits second grade, around ages 7 to 8.
On this sheet
lines are edges hidden in the back. Shape Name Faces Edges Vertices rectangular prism cube hexagonal prism triangular prism square pyramid triangular pyramid Which two shapes have the same numbers in every column? Which shape has the most edges? How many more vertices does a cube have than a square pyramid?...
Tips for using it
- Turn a real box or can in your hands before naming the drawing: count the faces you can touch.
- Remember that dashed lines are edges at the back. Count them too when you find edges and vertices.
- A sphere has no flat face, so it is the only basic solid that can roll in every direction.
Printing tips
Download the PDF and print at 100% (or “fit to page” on A4). Page 1 is the worksheet and page 2 is the answer key with the answers in red; print just page 1 if you want to keep the answers for checking. The PNG shows page 1 only. Free for personal, family and classroom use.
