About this worksheet
Twelve pictures with a digraph at the start or the end: ship, chair, thumb, wheel, sock, cheese, whale, three, shell, duck, brush and watch. Kids say each word and circle sh, ch, th, wh or ck. It matches first grade reading goals, roughly ages 6 to 7. Circle any exercise that felt hard and practice that skill tomorrow.
Tips for using it
- Do one exercise at a time and check it with the key.
- Underline the two letters of the digraph and read them as one sound.
- Give each digraph an action: finger on lips for sh, a sneeze for ch, tongue out for th.
- Practice sh and ch together; they sound close and are easy to swap.
Printing tips
Download the PDF and print at 100% (or “fit to page” on A4). Page 1 is the worksheet and page 2 is the answer key with the answers in red; print just page 1 if you want to keep the answers for checking. The PNG shows page 1 only. Free for personal, family and classroom use.
