About this worksheet
The clues come straight from the times tables: "I am a multiple of 7. I am between 40 and 60. I am an odd number", "Double me and you get 84" and "If you multiply my digits, you get 24. I am an even number. I am between 40 and 50." Two riddles ask for a number that is a multiple of two different numbers at once, which is an early look at common multiples. Third graders who know their facts need about twelve minutes; those still learning will want a multiplication chart beside them. Answers go in the "I am" box, with the key on page 2.
Tips for using it
- Keep a multiplication chart next to the page and circle the multiples each clue names.
- For the digit-product riddles, list every pair of digits that multiplies to the number.
- Say which riddle needed the fewest clues.
- Write a riddle whose answer is 56.
