About this worksheet
The whole hundreds chart is printed, and the task is to count by 2s and color every number landed on, which paints five vertical stripes of even numbers down the chart. Two questions sit under it: are the colored numbers even or odd, and keep counting by 2s from 92, 94 (96, 98, 100). Page 2 shows the chart with the evens shaded and the answers filled in. It is a first-grade page of ten to fifteen minutes with a crayon. The stripes are the point: once a child sees that every even number lives in the same five columns, counting by 2s stops being a chant and becomes a picture.
Tips for using it
- Let your child predict what the colored chart will look like before starting.
- Color the first two rows, then ask whether the rest can be done without counting.
- Ask for three even numbers bigger than 100.
- Color the odd numbers a second color on the key page and compare.
