About this worksheet
The riddles describe four treats in a sentence or two, like "I start as a tiny yellow seed. Heat me up and I go POP" and "I am a tiny cake with frosting on top. I come in a paper cup." Beside each one are three food pictures, and only one fits every clue. The words are short and the pictures are bright, so it suits 4 to 6 year olds, about five minutes, and it works as a read-aloud for the youngest. The popcorn riddle is a nice moment to talk about how a seed can turn into a snack.
Tips for using it
- Make popcorn after solving and watch the seeds change.
- Read the riddle, then close your eyes and picture the answer before looking.
- Sort the four answers into sweet and salty.
- Write a riddle about your favorite snack and draw three picture choices.
