Count the Ornaments on the Tree

About this worksheet
Eight Christmas trees with 2 to 10 colored ornaments each, scattered over the branches so children have to touch and count instead of counting a row. Write the number in the box next to the tree; the numbers come up in mixed order so nobody can guess the next one. The answer key is on page 2. Big pictures and only a few tasks per page make it a gentle start for kindergartners. Add white for snow.
Tips for using it
- Say the number out loud each time you trace it.
- Trace the big number with a finger first, then color it in your favorite color.
- Count the pictures twice: once by pointing, once by coloring a dot on each one.
- Make a three-page packet per child: one word search, one maze and one math or reading page at their level. It fills a quiet 20 minutes.
Printing tips
Download the PDF and print at 100% (or “fit to page” on A4). Page 1 is the worksheet and page 2 is the answer key with the answers in red; print just page 1 if you want to keep the answers for checking. Free for personal, family and classroom use.
