Eight winter words for sound boxes: hat, mug, cup, fox, log, sock, sled and bell. Each word has a colored picture and one box per sound, so children stretch the word (s-o-ck), hear three or four sounds and write a letter in each box; ck gets one wide box because it is one sound. The answer key on page 2 shows the finished boxes.

About this worksheet
Eight winter words for sound boxes: hat, mug, cup, fox, log, sock, sled and bell. The answer key on page 2 shows the finished boxes. It suits ages 4 to 6, and little ones can count the pictures with a finger. Red, green and gold make a classic Christmas palette.
Tips for using it
- Add white for snow.
- Make a three-page packet per child: one word search, one maze and one math or reading page at their level. It fills a quiet 20 minutes.
- Print the answer keys once and keep them in a folder; the kids can check their own word searches and mazes.
- For a mixed-age family, give everyone the same theme at a different level: the picture word search for the 5-year-old, the Christmas Challenge word search for the 9-year-old.
